This event is offered virtually via Zoom.

Therapeutic work with children and adolescents requires attention to many variables affecting each situation, including family and school environments, as well as developmental stages and idiosyncratic adaptations. Using case presentations, this event examines modern psychoanalytic understanding and techniques in this work in a variety of settings, including schools and mental health agencies.

Presenters: 

Virginia Elliott, M.A., Cert.Psya. is on the faculty of the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis.  She has many years of clinical and supervisory experience working with children and adolescents in the school and agency settings. 

 

Sahar Shahnazi Masoleh will receive the M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis in June 2022.  She has a long-term interest in work with children, first as an elementary school art teacher and her current clinical internship is work with children through the Boston school and mental health system.

 

Elizabeth Dorsey, M.S.W. Cert.Psya. is on the faculty at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis where she is a training and supervising analyst.  She has over thirty years of teaching and supervisory experience working with children, adolescent and adult cases.

 

2 CE’s/Clock Hours 

 

Continuing Education Objectives:

Participants will be able to: 

  1. Discuss clinical dynamics of child cases and the associated components of working in a school or agency setting.
  2. Discuss clinical dynamics of adolescent cases, including formulation and interventions in a school or agency setting.
  3. Discuss case formulations, dynamics and interventions as they may apply to working with parents  and apply these to personal clinical cases.
